Here’s a little sneaky peek at a project I’m working on right now! I’m having fun with the simple palette and design. I’m building all the characters, props and backgrounds in Illustrator and am animating them in Flash.
Sketches from yesterday’s class. I had a lot of fun drawing the short poses. ATYN has recently added another model in Edinburgh, meaning there are short poses before and after the break.
Life drawing! I still haven’t managed to get any more newsprint, but I used an A3 pad of layout paper instead and it worked well. (I like using Conte pastels on smooth, thin paper, which is extraordinarily hard to find.) Plus, it didn’t wrinkle up when I was taking pictures.
Another dramatic evening sky. I’m really pleased with how the watercolour effect looks in this – it’s all digital!
If you use Photoshop, I really recommend Kyle T Webster’s watercolour brushes (and indeed all his other brushes): check them out here.
Now my computer is feeling better I want to get back in the habit of posting these! There was a lovely sunset outside my window, and as I began to draw another plane flew past leaving a bright orange trail.
I find I’m struggling to get the orange parts as bright as I want without dulling the colour by adding white. I think my choice of blue may be too light … it’s something I need to work on.
Last week my laptop had to go in for repair, so I’ve had to do without a computer for the last few days. It’s been frustrating, given how much I use one! Perhaps it’s good to get a break once in a while. I haven’t been able to edit and post my drawings until now, so here are a few. My friend Amy shares a horse named Bob Marley (it’s the mane) who I’ve been to visit a few times. While she was riding him in the school I did a few quick sketches in pen.
