Klaus (2019)

A simple act of kindness always sparks another.

I worked as a Clean Up Artist on Sergio Pablos’ 2D animated feature as part of the SellOut Animation team based in Edinburgh.

It’s now available to watch on Netflix!

Quest for the Silver Pearl (pre-production)

A feature-length family adventure from Fellowship Film, written and directed by Philip Todd.

I storyboarded several sequences and drew concept art for props and locations.

Unstable (in development)

An animated musical feature with Jeff ‘Swampy’ Marsh attached as co-director. Script by David Freedman and Gareth Edwards.

I storyboarded and edited two animatics of a musical sequences from the film, and a teaser trailer.

Spiked (pre-production)

An animated family feature film based on the stories of Rumbuck & Spink by Richard Wyatt. Written and directed by David Freedman.

I created character model packs (including poses, expressions and turnarounds) and drew beat boards for the film. I also storyboarded and edited a teaser animatic.

Saints and Scholars (2017)

I designed and animated different videos for Trinity Digital including flyovers, maps and several portraits for use in a documentary on the history of Cambridge.

The Gaelic King (2017)

thegaelickingposter

Scots warrior-king, Alpin, must fight to rescue his brother and regain the kingdom of Dalriata.

The Gaelic King is an independent feature I was a story and concept artist on. You can order the film from Amazon, iTunes and other retailers in the UK. Truffle Pictures has also closed distribution deals across North America, Japan, Italy and the Middle East.

See story art / animatics for the project here.

Hybrid Networking (2016)

I worked with Relish Video Production on this video, creating the animation above and another segment using Illustrator and After Effects.

Kinsey’s Sword (2016)

Kinsey’s Sword is a short story I wrote and illustrated. I’m currently developing it as an animated short.

5050tech (2016)

I was one of several animators on this project for Doteveryone. In addition to doing concept work I animated and drew the final colour for the cats playing chess.

Know the Score (2016)

Interference Pattern, working with The Leith Agency, made this 2D animation for the Scottish Government’s Know the Score campaign. The video highlights the dangers of using NPS, or so-called “legal highs”.

I designed and animated the backgrounds. Owen Rixon designed and animated the character.

Use It and Lose It (2016)

I designed, storyboarded and animated this video for trypraying. The trypraying booklet is a seven-day prayer guide which encourages people to try praying for a week and see what happens.

You can find out more at trypraying.co.uk and thereishope.co.uk

Create (2015)

As part of the Edinburgh International Film Festival’s Youth Hub events in 2015 I took part in a filmmaking competition. Each entry had to be made in under a week, and include the dialogue “young and the wild” and the prop of a mobile phone. “Create” was my entry, drawn in about a day and a half. It won second place.

The narration was kindly provided by Philip Todd. You can see more of his work here: philip-todd.com

Knox (2015)

knox_poster_web_2_landscape

A documentary examining the life and legacy of Scotland’s controversial Reformer, John Knox.

I designed, illustrated and animated the historical scenes in Knox.

You can order the DVD or digital here. It’s also available to view on Amazon Prime in the United States.

Knox was nominated for a BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award in 2016.

Good Morning! (2014)

A bird who just wants to rest has trouble with a noisy neighbour.

This short animation was made in Flash and Photoshop, then composited in After Effects. It was the final project of my Classical Animation course at Vancouver Film School.

Dreid (2014)

A king must learn to persevere to overcome his fear.

I was inspired by the legend of Robert the Bruce and the Spider, and added a new twist to the tale! This short animation was hand drawn, then scanned, painted and composited with Toon Boom Harmony. I painted the backgrounds in Photoshop.

This was the classical project of my Classical Animation course at Vancouver Film School. Thank you to all my friends and instructors who helped me so much with it!
