I first shared some sketches of Morna here, and I’m finally diving back in to developing her design. There are lots of things still to nail down but I’m pleased with how she’s coming to life!

King
I doodled this king a few months ago and just now found him hiding in my folder of sketches. Still strange to think there is now a king, not a queen!
Inktober 2018 #23 – Erle
Erle is Kinsey’s husband. In writing the script his character has been developed beyond his role in the short story. I like the exploration of their relationship. And that’s it for Inktober!
Inktober 2018 #22 – Kinsey
For the penultimate character I’ve drawn Kinsey, who I’ve illustrated before but wanted to explore more. I’m writing a script of Kinsey’s Sword and am beginning to think more about what her character will look like.
Inktober 2018 #19 & #20 – Trennte & Jeffrey
A double update! Both characters are from The Princess of Nowhere, the first novel I ever finished writing. Trennte is the manservant of Prince Jespar, and is the prince’s friend and mentor. Jeffrey is a tie. For some reason I cut Jeffrey out of the later drafts, something I regret as he was one ofContinue reading “Inktober 2018 #19 & #20 – Trennte & Jeffrey”
Inktober 2018 #18 – Finn
Finn is a half-Indian, half-English boy who Maia meets and befriends. Unfortunately I missed yesterday – I’m away from home at the moment, and yesterday proved too busy! I may do a double update tomorrow to catch up.
Inktober 2018 #17 – Maia
Maia is an orphan, sent out to Brazil to distant relatives in the care of Miss Minton.

Bee
The freelance project I’m working on is very serious, with no colour … so I wanted to draw something completely different today! I’ve had an idea for a short, or perhaps a series of shorts, in Flash. I’d like to keep the characters really simple, like the birds in my “Good Morning!” short.
Old Drawings
This is one of the first sketches I did for the fire in “Dreid”, my VFS classical animation. (You can find the film in “Shorts”.) I took a picture of the sketch when I had to throw the sketchbook it was in away, and I only found the picture this weekend. This little bird was inContinue reading “Old Drawings”
Dreid One Sheet
I created a poster for my student film in order to explore the final line style, character design, and colour. Pencil on paper, scanned and then coloured in Photoshop.
