I felt I got back into the swing of things last night. I worked hard to stay loose, mainly by holding the conte pastel / pencil flat rather than the way I’d typically hold a pencil.
Here are a few drawings from the last life drawing session I was at. I had an off night and produced very little I’m pleased with. The foot finally made sense the third time I drew it!
Shockingly, I haven’t been to life drawing since November! I felt a bit rusty, but it was a good session.
Sketches from yesterday. I was a bit lazy about drawing in the stool the models were sitting on, so there are lots of feet floating in the air …
Sketches from yesterday’s class. I had a lot of fun drawing the short poses. ATYN has recently added another model in Edinburgh, meaning there are short poses before and after the break.
Life drawing! I still haven’t managed to get any more newsprint, but I used an A3 pad of layout paper instead and it worked well. (I like using Conte pastels on smooth, thin paper, which is extraordinarily hard to find.) Plus, it didn’t wrinkle up when I was taking pictures. The portrait below, the feet andContinue reading “Life Drawing, 12th”
I’ve run out of newsprint paper and must get some more as it’s the paper I use with conte pastels. This time I drew all the quick poses in pencil, which took a little getting used to.
I was very rusty as I began to draw last night. It took me a while to loosen up. I’ve barely sketched this week – what a difference it makes! I finished the newsprint pad I’ve been using so began a new sketchbook with lovely smooth paper. The pencil drawings came out really well onContinue reading “Life Drawing, 1st”
At All The Young Nudes this week two musicians modelled. Though there were the usual long and short poses, they also played a few songs. This was great not only to listen to but to draw! It was difficult, but I’d like to do more drawing like it. The two drawings below are using conte crayons. They were newContinue reading “Life Drawing, 25th”
Missing last week’s class meant I struggled a bit this week!
More life drawing! All drawn in pastel.
I’m pleased with many of the sketches I did last night! Regular drawing helps so much, yet it’s so easy to fall out of that all-important habit.
Some sketches from Tuesday. Pencil, pastel and pen.
After a long absence I finally made it to life drawing again! Here are a few sketches from the night.
I’ve been doing some more figure drawing from artists.pixelovely.com and thought these two stood out. I like the way this model uses her hair and the cloth she’s wearing.
I thought it was time for an update of my portfolio and showreel! Here’s a peek: click on the image to view the full portfolio. My latest animation showreel, featuring Maya and paper animation: Music: “Dial Up” by Kris Oliver http://www.krisoliver.com Paper Animation (Photoshop / ToonBoom): All character, background and colour design by myself. I’ve been working on a large freelance project which means I haven’t had much to put on the blog! After missing last week, I managed to make it along to the life drawing class again.
These are a few sketches from the life drawing club I went to yesterday and the fortnight before. It’s nice as they have some excellent models and shorter pose times, as well as a very relaxed atmosphere. The club is called All The Young Nudes. The pencil sketches are from a fortnight ago, and theContinue reading “Life Drawing”
