If you've been following me for a few years you may remember that back in 2015 I drew 'Pieces of Sky', small squares of the sky I saw that day. (Here's an example.) I've been thinking about starting to draw small colour studies again, as I enjoyed the challenge....
Swan
A little something I made yesterday!
Book Illustrations
Though I've been working on a few different projects I can't share much from them yet. So here are some drawings from my personal project, a story of mine that I'm illustrating. I posted some concepts for it back in February (see them here). I began with very loose...
30 Second Bird Sketches
I wanted to loosen up a bit so I went to https://line-of-action.com/ and spent about 20 minutes drawing 30 second bird poses. Here are my favourites!
Pieces of Sky #21
A surprisingly clear evening!
Pieces of Sky #19 & #20
I had an amazing time in LA, but didn't draw the sky because it always looked like this. There were no clouds, there was no rain, there was nothing but sunshine.Returning to Scotland was a bit of a shock. It's cold, wet and grey. But our sky is much more interesting.
Sneak Peek
Here's a little sneaky peek at a project I'm working on right now! I'm having fun with the simple palette and design. I'm building all the characters, props and backgrounds in Illustrator and am animating them in Flash.
Pieces of Sky #18
A very simple sky tonight, caught as the last of the light faded.
Pieces of Sky #17
Another dramatic evening sky. I'm really pleased with how the watercolour effect looks in this - it's all digital! If you use Photoshop, I really recommend Kyle T Webster's watercolour brushes (and indeed all his other brushes): check them out here.
