Susannah modelled at the final January session. Lots of nice poses, but my drawings were a bit hit and miss.

There were three models at this session, because Bill stepped in for the first few minutes as Francesca and Pete were delayed!

I tested out a new 10B pencil which was lovely to draw with. I liked being able to easily switch between a soft and sharp line (something I can’t seem to get the hang of with conte). It was also great for shading.

This was the last session before Christmas, so I’ve been looking forward to a special one next week with shorter poses.

Morna modelled for our first December session. I was struggling with the conte pastel so did most of the drawings in pencil.

Some life drawing sketches of Sarah with her cello. I struggled a bit with the conte pastel, so I abandoned it for the pencil. The cello was difficult to draw!

I’ve got one more week to catch up on which I’ll post tomorrow.

Some very late sketches, modelled by Susan.

I have two more weeks of drawing to post which I’ll upload over the next two days.

The second day back at life drawing I felt more relaxed. Maxime modelled, holding some lovely and difficult poses.

I’m still behind with uploading drawings from the 16th, but I’ll try to post those next weekend.

I meant to post these last weekend, but forgot. I drew them last month, using the Bodies in Motion site, beginning with 30 second poses and gradually giving myself more time. The site is excellent for capturing poses that a model would never be able to hold.

More studies from the Bodies in Motion website! I began with some 30 second sketches, all of which were very rough so I haven’t uploaded any of them. Next I went through one of the motions spending a minute on every drawing. Finally I spent quite a long time on a study of one image.

The gif below is a bit jumpy because I was only drawing every third photo, but I think there’s still a good sense of the overall movement.Ballet_0101

Last week I went to a show of students’ work where Katrina Ellis, a weaver and life model, modelled with some of her fabric. It was fun, and challenging, to draw.

David modelled on Tuesday, holding some incredible poses that were often incredibly challenging to draw! It was a good session.

I went back to conte pastel for last week’s session – I think shaking up the medium every so often helps to keep things fresh! First-time model Silvi held some great poses.

Annie modelled at this week’s session. There were some really wonderful poses, and lots of interesting hands and feet!

Bren modelled at life drawing on Tuesday. I enjoyed the variety of poses, and even drew part of the room using the mirror in the final drawing.

Mireille modelled at life drawing last night, holding some great twisting and leaning poses. I also enjoyed drawing her hair!

I’ve not made it along to life drawing for a few weeks so I thought I’d better get back into practice with some gestures! I drew these from images at Line of Action, using the 30 and 60 second timers.
