I meant to post these last weekend, but forgot. I drew them last month, using the Bodies in Motion site, beginning with 30 second poses and gradually giving myself more time. The site is excellent for capturing poses that a model would never be able to hold.
More studies from the Bodies in Motion website! I began with some 30 second sketches, all of which were very rough so I haven’t uploaded any of them. Next I went through one of the motions spending a minute on every drawing. Finally I spent quite a long time on a study of one image.Continue reading “Ballet Studies”
Last week I went to a show of students’ work where Katrina Ellis, a weaver and life model, modelled with some of her fabric. It was fun, and challenging, to draw.
Last week was the last life drawing session before the summer. Susan modelled and held lovely poses with lots going on.
David modelled on Tuesday, holding some incredible poses that were often incredibly challenging to draw! It was a good session.
I went back to conte pastel for last week’s session – I think shaking up the medium every so often helps to keep things fresh! First-time model Silvi held some great poses.
Annie modelled at this week’s session. There were some really wonderful poses, and lots of interesting hands and feet!
Sketches from last week’s life drawing session with Andy posing.
Bren modelled at life drawing on Tuesday. I enjoyed the variety of poses, and even drew part of the room using the mirror in the final drawing.
Mireille modelled at life drawing last night, holding some great twisting and leaning poses. I also enjoyed drawing her hair!
I’ve not made it along to life drawing for a few weeks so I thought I’d better get back into practice with some gestures! I drew these from images at Line of Action, using the 30 and 60 second timers.
Drawings from a couple of weeks ago, with Tamara modelling.
It’s taken me a couple of weeks to put these online! A lovely session with Ana modelling. This time I felt a bit more comfortable using conte pastel to draw.
Last week I had a good life drawing session with lots of dynamic and interesting poses. I drew in conte pastel for the first half, which was an attempt to shake me up a bit and loosen my drawings. Though everything felt a bit messy I think it was good as an exercise. I’ve noticedContinue reading “Life Drawing, 6th February”
My first drawing session after Christmas, and I was quite rusty … it took me a while to warm up. We had a break just as I was beginning to feel I could draw again!
What with packing up and moving across most of the country and Christmas and New Year, it’s taken me a while to post some of my life drawing sketches from December. Here’s a selection!
Janey was the life model at this Tuesday’s session, and she brought her dog along! It was fun to do quick gestures of the dog while also capturing her lovely poses.
Andy was modelling at this week’s life drawing. He held some great poses, including one where he played the guitar. As he was actually playing the guitar rather than pretending to, I feel the final drawing has real movement.
Moving for work has meant I’ve had to search for another life drawing class … thankfully this last week I found one! It’s a great little group and the model this week, Helen, came up with some lovely poses. It’ll be good to get back into regular classes again.
It was the final life drawing session last week, modelled by Ina. I’ll miss the weekly sketching, but hopefully this will push me to draw more the rest of the time.
