Sketches from yesterday’s class. I had a lot of fun drawing the short poses. ATYN has recently added another model in Edinburgh, meaning there are short poses before and after the break.

Life Drawing, 12th
Life drawing! I still haven’t managed to get any more newsprint, but I used an A3 pad of layout paper instead and it worked well. (I like using Conte pastels on smooth, thin paper, which is extraordinarily hard to find.) Plus, it didn’t wrinkle up when I was taking pictures. The portrait below, the feet andContinue reading “Life Drawing, 12th”
Life Drawing, 6th
On Tuesday I made it back to the life drawing class. I’m pleased with some of the drawings I did, especially the one above, as I feel I loosened up a lot and let the lines flow.
Life Drawing, 15th
Life Drawing, 8th
I’ve run out of newsprint paper and must get some more as it’s the paper I use with conte pastels. This time I drew all the quick poses in pencil, which took a little getting used to.
Life Drawing, 1st
I was very rusty as I began to draw last night. It took me a while to loosen up. I’ve barely sketched this week – what a difference it makes! I finished the newsprint pad I’ve been using so began a new sketchbook with lovely smooth paper. The pencil drawings came out really well onContinue reading “Life Drawing, 1st”
Life Drawing, 25th
At All The Young Nudes this week two musicians modelled. Though there were the usual long and short poses, they also played a few songs. This was great not only to listen to but to draw! It was difficult, but I’d like to do more drawing like it. The two drawings below are using conte crayons. They were newContinue reading “Life Drawing, 25th”
Life Drawing, 11th
I made it along to the All the Young Nudes life drawing session again this week. For the last two weeks I haven’t been able to go, but I have been sketching from life and pictures more than usual. This time I really noticed a difference in my drawing; I was looser and didn’t panicContinue reading “Life Drawing, 11th”
Sketches
I’ve been unable to go to the life drawing sessions for the last couple of weeks, so I did some drawing from poses online. They’re not ideal (although the model does stay perfectly still) but I do like being able to do the very short poses. The hands below were done in 30 seconds each;Continue reading “Sketches”
Life Drawing, 14th & 21st
Life Drawing, 30th
Missing last week’s class meant I struggled a bit this week!
Life Drawing, 16th
More life drawing! All drawn in pastel.
Life Drawing, 9th
I’m pleased with many of the sketches I did last night! Regular drawing helps so much, yet it’s so easy to fall out of that all-important habit.
Life Drawing, 2nd
Some sketches from Tuesday. Pencil, pastel and pen.
Life Drawing Sequence
At a life drawing class earlier in the week the model created a series of poses descending into extreme sadness.
Watercolour Portrait
I actually painted this a while ago at a life drawing session. I need to keep practising with watercolours; it’s difficult!
