As I look back at 2024 one of my regrets is failing to continue designing The Wait - and other personal projects. The Wait is a mini graphic novel I've been working at for a long while now. Back when Sputnik: Faith + Arts gave me a small grant to work on character...
Costume Design
I've been working on a mini graphic novel project for a while (you may remember this, this and this) and recently I've been doing a lot of research into clothing. It's set around 1300 but much of it falls into 'vaguely medieval'. There are very few source materials...
All In Gesture – Cruella
Another session from the archives! Some of my drawings lean more towards the Cruella of the animated movie, others more towards the model. Either way the poses were great fun. She's a wonderfully mad villain.

All In Gesture – Swing Dancing
I'm gradually working my way through the archives of All In Gesture and this workshop is definitely a favourite. Lots of dynamic poses with the added challenge of two figures!
Historical Fashion
One of the last times I was up in Edinburgh I sketched these at the museum in Chambers Street. Though I took no notes on colour at the time, thankfully National Museums Scotland has a searchable database - it's fantastic for research.
Inktober #2
See my previous Inktober post here. Here are the rest of my Inktober drawings for this year. I missed a couple of days, but otherwise I'm pleased with what I've accomplished. Ink can be very unforgiving, even with a pencil underdrawing. It's been good to try something...
Inktober #1
I've been taking part in Inktober - a challenge to do one ink drawing every day of October. They've all been posted on my Twitter but I'm just now getting round to posting them here. I haven't followed the official prompts; instead I'm drawing costumes through the...
Costume Drawing
I recently discovered that the gallery in town hosts free drawing events, so this Thursday I went along to take a look. I got the chance to sketch a figure in costume, something that was remarkably tricky to do! I guess I'm used to unclothed figures ... These were...
